Have you thought about writing your Will?
Making a Will can be tricky for some people, whether it’s the fact they don’t want to think about it or are hoping to avoid difficult conversations with their loved ones about their wishes.
I’ve written my top 5 reasons on why you should consider writing a Will, and the importance not only to you but also for your loved ones.
1. Ensure your wishes are known
Keeping your will up to date gives you peace of mind that the people and causes that matter to you will be looked after in the way that you want.
2. Help your family and friends
If you’ve made a Will your family and friends will know that they are acting on your wishes and it’ll help them to take care of your estate.
3. Protect your partner’s rights
If you’re not married or in a civil partnership, the only way to make sure your partner is looked after is by including them in your Will.
4. Give your assets to the people and causes you care about
Without a Will that sets out your wishes, what happens to your estate when you die will be decided by law. If you’ve written your Will, you keep control.
5. Minimise inheritance tax
Having a Will may reduce the amount of inheritance tax that needs to be paid on your estate.
