We can accept clean good quality:

  • Clothes – all sizes, men’s, women’s and children’s clothing. Vintage items are welcome too
  • Wedding dresses – as well as prom dresses, evening wear and occasion outfits
  • Shoes, handbags, and accessories – including non-prescription sunglasses
  • Games, toys (we can only accept them with a CE label attached), and puzzles
  • Bric-a-brac – such as small ornaments, kitchenware and decorative items
  • Books – paperbacks
  • Furniture – upholstered and soft furnishings must have current fire labels
  • Large electricals – such as washing machines and fridges (in full working order)
  • Smaller electrical goods – such as kettles and TVs (in full working order)

There are some items we can’t always accept for health and safety or legal reasons. We often have large amounts of:

  • Books/CDs/DVDs
  • Soft toys
  • Children’s clothing

And whilst we appreciate all donations, we have very limited space. So we may refuse some items or large quantities of them if we’ve reached capacity. You can always call the shop, and our friendly team can advise you if they will accept your items.

We ask only for good quality items that are in a saleable condition (for instance- nothing broken, dirty or incomplete) because it costs us money to dispose of any donations we’re unable to sell. We also ask you not to leave donations outside our charity shops, as we’re unable to sell these items.

Items we cannot accept

If you’re unsure about your item after reading this list, please call your nearest shop. They’ll be happy to advise you.

For information on the disposing of broken electrical items please visit the Recycle Your Electricals website.

For any items we cannot accept, you can recycle them through Brighton & Hove City Council. Click here to visit their guidance on recycling on their website.
