The festive season at Martlets

At Martlets, everyone works throughout the festive season to make sure that the individual needs of patients and visitors are met. We recognise that not everyone celebrates Christmas, but for those who do, we’re happy to go above and beyond to accommodate whatever matters most at this time of year.

It’s often the little things that make a big difference. Perhaps it's enabling a patient to have a relaxing spa bath in our new facilities – with their favourite festive music playing through the sound system. Or decking our inpatient courtyard with twinkling icicle lights and offering visiting loved ones freshly-baked mince pies from our café.

We want everyone staying with us over the festive season to feel like they’re part of a big Martlets family. Over the years, our clinical staff on Christmas Day have donned fancy dress, our catering team cooks up a fabulous Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, and the Hospice twinkles with lights and decorations.

Our community nursing team is also on call, visiting patients in their own homes to make sure they are as comfortable as possible over the festive season. Our 24-hour phone hub is available for carers to call over Christmas ensuring they have the support they need, and for those who have experienced a bereavement, our counselling team is on hand to offer a listening ear.
