We are calling for local people in Brighton and Hove and the havens to open up their outside spaces. It’s part of our Open Gardens weekend on Saturday 13 or Sunday 14 June 2020.
This year we are asking everyone to consider opening their garden – large or small. From patio or ‘outside room’ to blooming borders and luscious lawns we want your help. Your gardens will create a community weekend of shared spaces for others to enjoy. Visitors to the gardens will be encouraged to make a donation. All funds raised will help provide life-changing hospice care for local people and their families.
As part of the weekend, we will also be opening our Hospice Garden on Saturday 13 June. Visitors will have the chance to experience our lovingly tended private gardens. Our gardens bring comfort and peace to patients and their loved ones.
Supporting Martlets Open Gardens this year is Andy Sturgeon, Brighton based garden designer, BBC garden presenter and 3 times winner of Best in Show at RHS Chelsea Flower Show,
“When time is precious, a garden appeals to all the senses and keeps us present in the here and now.
Please consider opening your garden or outside space for Martlets and invite in family, friends and neighbours for a cuppa and a catch-up.
All donations, large or small, will support Martlets’ life-changing hospice care.”
Liz Davies, Martlets Community Fundraising Officer said:
“We are very lucky to be at the heart of an amazing community and would urge people to help us create a wonderful weekend of shared outside spaces.
When you open your garden for Martlets we’ll support you all the way from planning, advice and guidance through to promotional posters, equipment and practical support – we can help with everything but the weather!”
