Six-time World Champion swimmer Mark Foster visited Martlets on Tuesday to hear about our life-changing work to support families from across the Brighton & Hove area.
Hot on the heels of his tribute to the Full Monty at the London Palladium on the previous day with Wayne Sleep and Harry Judd, Mark kept his clothes on but was keen to talk about blue underpants!
Mark was in Brighton & Hove to promote the city’s first ever , which takes place in Hove Park on the morning of
Mark enjoyed a tour of the hospice meeting members of staff, our lovely nurses and even some of our patients who are sports fans.
Antonia Shepherd from the Martlets’ Fundraising Team said: “It was very generous of Mark to take time out from his busy schedule to spend some time with us yesterday to learn about Martlets and our work. It’s lovely to have his support and we hope that he will encourage many chaps from the Brighton & Hove area to take part in this fun event!
“It’s going to be quite a sight to see, with Grandads, Dads, Uncles and Sons all running across the finishing line in bright blue underpants. We hope lots of our supporters will take part and have a fantastic morning raising important charity funds whilst also highlighting essential information about men’s health issues.”
Mark commented on his visit: “It was a privilege to meet the staff and patients at Martlets and I hope a lot of men and boys from Hove, Brighton and across the region will sign up and get sponsored.
“It was very moving and emotional to hear the stories about the many different ways Martlets support so many people in the local community.”
