Zumba instructor parties her way to raising £100,000 in six years for Martlets

Energetic fundraiser, Sherryn Watkin has partied her way to generating an incredible £100,000 in donations over six years for us with her three-hour exercise party ‘Zumbathons’.

The latest Zumbathon involved over one hundred participants getting into the party mood dressed up glow in the dark UV outfits and joining in the fun.  All participants were sponsored to keep dancing for Martlets encouraged by Sherryn and her super-fit team of Zumba instructors.

Sherryn commented: “When the fundraising money came through and I realised that our amazing Zumbathons have raised over £100,000 for Martlets during the six years that I have been organising them, I was absolutely delighted.

I have had direct experience of the care and support that hospices give people with terminal illness and it made me determined to give something back and do what I could to help.  Dancing is what I do – and thousands of wonderful people have supported me to party my way to this incredible total!”

Clem Hunnisett from Martlets said: “Sherryn really has been an incredible supporter of Martlets. We are so grateful to her for helping us to arranging these fantastically fun Zumbathons and getting so many people motivated to exercise and fundraise for Martlets.

It just shows that everyone has something they can contribute to help raise money for an important cause.  The money donated will help us continue to give our expert care and support for people living with terminal illness in the Brighton and Hove area.”
