Karen and her parents were all diagnosed with terminal cancer within a four-month period. It was a devastating time for the family, but since then Martlets has supported Karen and helped her maintain her mobility and independence. 

Jinny’s close friend, Penny, was cared for on Martlets’ inpatient unit. Their friendship inspired Jinny, a graphic designer, to create her ‘Blue Tit Collection’ and she is generously donating at least £1,000 in sales to Martlets.

Debbie’s dad Michael and her husband Glenn were both cared for by Martlets towards the end of their lives. She wrote this blog about the ‘amazing’ care they received.

Christine – who used to be a keen sea swimmer – received care on Martlets’ inpatient unit. She talks about the various ways our staff have offered support.

Jean is a Martlets outpatient and is receiving care from our community nursing and rehab teams at home, as well as taking part in several of our wellbeing groups online. She explains how Martlets is helping her do more of what she loves.

Brigid has been staying on our inpatient unit for symptom management and will soon be returning home, where our community team will continue to visit and offer support. She tells us about the different ways in which Martlets has cared for her.

Martlets cared for Grant’s mum Gladys who was an outpatient at the Hospice. Martlets also supported Grant as her full-time carer at home. Grant shares his experience of caring for his mum and explains how Martlets offered support.
