As a way to highlight the incredible work of all the doctors working at or with Martlets, we are marking International Doctors’ Day today (October 7), to sing their praises and thank all of our doctors for their hard work.

Reading books can provide a much-needed respite from the day-to-day strain of facing a life-limiting illness and coping with treatment, we hear from our staff and patients about how stories, reading and books help them.

For Nurses Day, Ana Da Silva Vicente, a Sister on Martlets’ inpatient wards, offers this reflection on nursing and end-of-life care. 

To highlight Nursing Support Workers’ Day, Emma Lewery, a Martlets healthcare assistant, talks about her role on our community nursing team. 

Vlada Rakin is our spiritual care lead and chaplain. He talks about the many facets of the spiritual and wellbeing work he is involved in.

Jason is housekeeping team leader at Martlets and he and his team make sure our facilities are clean and safe for patients, staff and visitors. He tells us why he enjoys working on the inpatient unit at Christmas.
