Will Writing Month 2026

This September, write or update your Will while supporting local hospice care.

We’ve partnered with trusted solicitors across Sussex who are generously donating their time and legal expertise. Instead of charging their usual fees, they are offering appointments for simple single or joint/mirror Wills in exchange for a donation to the hospice (£300 for a single Will / £450 for a joint or mirror Will).

By taking part in our Will Writing Month, you can tick this important task off your to-do list while directly supporting us in continuing to provide compassionate hospice care in Brighton and Hove and surrounding areas.

Participating solicitors have limited appointments available. We recommend donating early and contacting your chosen solicitor promptly to secure your slot.

Why should you write a Will?

Ensure your wishes are honoured

Without a legal Will, your estate will be distributed according to standard legal rules, which may not reflect what you would have wanted.

Ease the burden on loved ones

Having a valid Will makes it easier for your family to carry out your intentions after you’re gone

Reduce inheritance tax

If you leave at least 10% of your taxable estate to charity, the inheritance tax rate on the remainder of your estate can be reduced from 40% to 36%.

This special campaign is designed to help you get your affairs in order while supporting the compassionate care we provide at our hospices. Whether you're making your first Will or simply updating it, this is a meaningful way to plan for the future whilst making a real difference to those we care for.

It’s ideal for:

  • anyone who wants to leave a lasting legacy to help ensure our hospice can continue caring for people affected by life-limiting illness and their families
  • supporters who don’t yet have a Will
  • those needing to update an existing Will due to life changes such as marriage, children, or retirement
