Five challenge ideas to boost your January

New year, new start, right?

January is a great way to try something new. As you’re dusting off Christmas and the New Year and ready to take on 2025, you could fundraise for Martlets too. So if you’re looking to kick off the new year with something new, why not explore these challenges?

We’ve included five ideas below, but there are plenty of ways to try something new and help provide life-changing hospice care to our community at the same time. If you’re looking for help and support with your fundraising, please get in touch. We’d love to give you some advice and support!

1. Start a training plan

Ready for something BIG in 2025? We’ve got places remaining for the Brighton Marathon; the perfect challenges to really make your 2025 count! Or take on one of the many runs happening across the UK.

January is a great time to start a fitness routine, and if you’re aiming for a bigger challenge – like a marathon or half marathon- you’ll be even more motivated to keep up with your new regime.

2. Dry January challenge

Maybe you’ve drunk a bit too much over Christmas. Or you just want a reset.

Whatever it is, dry January could be a great way to raise money for Martlets. Set your goal, set up a fundraising page and then make sure you tell us about it.

Want a bigger challenge? Why not take on 100 days dry?

3. Veganuary challenge

Veganuary has inspired more than 25 million people to eat Vegan for a month since they started in 2014.

Whether you’re an avid meat-eater or more of a flexitarian, this could be a great way for you to try something different.

Ready to go? Veganuary have plenty of ideas and support on how you can get started.

4. Explore your creativity

The January Challenge by 64Million Artists will get your creative juices flowing, with a different creative prompt each day for you to respond to in whatever medium you like. To make your artwork go even further and raise money for Martlets, you could share your amazing creations on social media and prompt your followers to donate to your fundraising page. Or even sell what you create and donate the proceeds to charity!

5. Get active

To help you get fit this January, you could explore a fitness challenge. Such as: daily yoga, hydration challenge or a step challenge. Once you’re ready to go, get fundraising.

For some inspiration, here’s one from Buzzfeed. If you’re willing to try something longer, you could try the NHS’ Couch to 5k, or the TikTok viral sensation 75 Hard.
