Ozzy, aged nine, is one of our youngest fundraisers and ran his first official race a couple weeks ago in Brighton – a 2k trail for kids aged nine and over. His mum Jo explains why they both love running for Martlets.

Last weekend, we celebrated Martlets’ 25th anniversary with a garden party. We brought together more than 120 long serving staff members, volunteers and supporters. 

Hannah is walking 100km from Eastbourne to Arundel to fundraise in memory of her dad Gerry and her friend Bob, who were both cared for by Martlets. Hannah talks about the care her dad received from our community nursing team. 

David is a 90-year-old patient staying on Martlets’ inpatient unit (IPU) and was once head gardener for Sir Winston Churchill. He wanted to enjoy Martlets’ gardens one last time (before building works began on site).

When Sally became terminally ill with cancer, her friends and loved ones formed the ‘Sally Army’ to look after her and her family. They were there to support each other during the toughest of times.

Martlets cared for Grant’s Mum and his friends which inspired him to volunteer at the Hospice. He now works full-time for Martlets’ fundraising team. Grant explains what his job entails, and why Martlets is such a rewarding place to work. 

Martlets cared for Grant’s mum Gladys who was an outpatient at the Hospice. Martlets also supported Grant as her full-time carer at home. Grant shares his experience of caring for his mum and explains how Martlets offered support. 

Volunteers Week 2022 is coming to an end. To round off the week, we are thanking some of the fantastic volunteers who support us. We want to say a huge thank you to all our volunteers for your hard work.
